Stress Management
Do you or your child feel overwhelmed, ill, depressed, exhausted, aggravated, and confused about what to do next? It’s stress!
What is stress and why do we have all of those negative emotional and physical experiences?
When you are struggling with stifling school and work conditions, financial difficulties, stressful relationships, parenting problems, it makes it difficult to enjoy and appreciate what you have in life.
It happens when a combination of different stressors and worrying about them causes your body to release various hormones and produce the fight-or-flight a/k/a stress response. The stress response which allowed our ancestors to escape large predators in primeval forest and ensured survival of human species has no value in modern life. In fact, frequent elicitation of stress response is threatening to your health, decreases your performance, disrupts relationships with others, and reduces the quality of your life.
What to do when you are stressed?
Even though not everything in our control, there is the way to change a way how we react to and deal with modern life stressors. During stress management therapy, I will facilitate a discussion that will allow you to review the meaning that you attach to the events (stressors) in your life. I will help you to reevaluate your existing and develop new coping resources that will allow you to deal with stress affectively. Through counseling I will help you to create a “road map” which will assist you in altering your body’s response to stress and will guide you to effective resolution of your problems. Skills that you will lean in therapy will aid you in preventing stress build-up in your future life.
Are you or your child experiencing an extreme feeling of fear, grief, anger, hostility, helplessness, hopelessness, and alienation from others in your life? You might be in crisis!
A crisis happens when an unusual and stress temporarily stoles person’s ability to function and direct their life effectively. Such stressors could be acute and sudden such as abuse, illness, injury, loss of a home, or death of a loved one; or the stressors could be prolonged and daily that accumulate to the point that usual coping mechanisms don’t provide a relief.
If you or your child are experiencing a personal crisis, it’s imperative that you get a professional support. In the process of our counseling sessions, I will assist you in recovering from a potentially disastrous situation before emotional and physical destruction occur. Our collaboration will restore your ability to continue your life effectively.
